Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune 23/05/08

Even though Dahlback has seen less of the limelight then his fellow Swede’s, it really doesn’t account for his level of talent. He caught his production fever after spending hours playing around with his father’s Atari and listening to records with his cousin Jesper Dahlback, and hasn’t stopped making music since. At 22 he really is one of the younger producers who has spent most of his time in the studio rather than touring, previously releasing records for some of the world’s most respected labels including Turbo, Joia and Brique Rouge among others. John himself successfully runs 3 of his own labels, Dahlback Recording, Jackmoves and Pickadoll, which have really grown from strength to strength seeing releases from Pig & Dan, Zoo Brazil & Sebastien Leger.

John Dahlback’s ‘Pyramid’ is a perfect blend of synthy house, staying beautifully melodic at all times, as you would never expect any less from the classically trained musician.

Like Dahlback, Dirty South is another talented young gun that has continued to grow from strength to strength in the last few years, surpassing everyone’s expectations. His remix of ‘Pyramid’ adds mainstream appeal, by using old school piano hooks and his trademark breakdowns.

Cr2 Records will be releasing the incredible artist album ‘Winners & Fools’ later on in the summer. The time really is now for John Dahlbaclk.
