The institution that is Cr2 records have hit a milestone with their 200th release on the label! Head honcho Mark Brown, who is one part of Beatport topping duo MYNC, fittingly heads the release up. Special Brew has already had two plays from Pete Tong on his BBC Radio 1 show and support from Carl Cox, Groove Armada, Arman Van Buuren, Walley Lopez, Robbie Rivera... and many more.
Birmingham boy Dan Castro, on the new Cr2:AM artist management agency, follows up with Eastern Ensemble a Balkan influenced track full of energy. A flurry of brass interspersed with vocal stabs over deep kicks makes it primed for the dance floor. Garnering attention from the likes of Laidback Luke, Roger Sanchez, Riva Starr and Carl Cox before it's release, we expect things to go off when it drops!
Ben DJ started out DJing in holiday venues, then, thanks to his eclecticism, his charisma, and his unforgettable style, he formed a partnership with the most important artistic agents in Italy. This opened the doors to the most famous clubs in Italy and the productions soon followed. Ben DJ & TT Orchestra provides classic piano chords fused with haunting vocals over straight up house beats. The Mistress has an epic vocal breakdown that drops back into those catchy chords. This too has had a Pete Tong play on Radio 1.
Scarecrows In My Mind is lovingly arranged tech-house. Upbeat and funky, the breakdowns are unforgettable, with a harmonica rising out of white noise before the track rolls on its merry way.
The EP without doubt covers the broad range of sounds Cr2 are now recognised to be releasing, marking this occasion after a hugely successful year so far for the label. Here’s to another 200 releases!
