Yep it’s wednesday after the big bank holiday weekend, and we are feeling pretty tired in the office. All roads led to our huge carnival party on Monday and I’m more than happy to say it was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came and got down with us it was pretty sick yo. All the pics are up on facebook and I’ve included a video of Jacob and JLD doing their new track ‘Basslines In’, which also went down a storm. Roll on next year we say cos we be hearing de bassline already!!!

This Saturday our boys MYNC are playing at London super club Matter, at the almost always sell out night Kinky Malinki. Alongside them on the bill is Funkerman, Martijn Ten Velden and Grant Nalder. as you can imagine it’s going to be a packed night. If you didn’t get to go to Miami this year for the 25th anniversary then fear not, as we have a few videos that will tickle your taste buds and secure your decisions to make the trip stateside next year! Firstly we have a video from our Cr2 party at Club Wall, all our favourite DJ’s came down, Chuckie, Harry ‘Choo Choo’ Romero & Jose Nunez, Uner & Coyu, Arno Cost & Norman Doray, DJ Wady and of course MYNC!
We also have a little video of MYNC playing at the Beatport Beach party, which took place on Friday the 26th of March.
So Miami winter music conference is over for another year, and the feedback has been phenomenal, some saying its 25th anniversary has been the best year yet! Cr2 were of course on hand to document all the goings on, who was playing what, which parties went off etc etc; so here we have the week long diary of MYNC- who are currently holding the Beatport number 2 position.
Day 1 – Monday: Land 19.00 (long flight due to 100mph head winds) – Check-in to hotel, meet up with our boys Arno Cost & Norman Doray and the ClubClass guys and headed out for some Sushi, earlyish night… well, we polished of a bottle of vodka in Mark’s room before bedding down!
Day 2 – Tuesday: Up early due to jetlag – Working by the pool (may have squeezed in a little bit of sunbathing). Went on to the Saved party, Yousef played an amazing warm-up till 1am followed by Nic Fanciulli and Joris Voorn back to back for the remaining 4 hours, quality house music all night long.
Day 3 – Wednesday: Up early again still jetlagged – Started preparing for the Cr2 party. Had a meeting with all the Atlantic Records staff (all really lovely people) and Chuckie and the Dirty Dutch crew. Various artists and industry people coming and going through-out the afternoon. Met up with our friend from Japan Mitomi Tokoto and had a good chat with him about possibly going over to Japan this year! Met with the guys at Wall for a soundcheck and to check out the club. Funktion 1 system so all was good. The party started at 11pm and by 12pm the place was rammed, we had to close the doors as it reached capacity! The word roadblock doesn’t even cover how crazy the party was. Wady really got the place jumping, programming went like this… Wady – Uner – Coyu –HCCR & Jose Nunez – Chuckie – MYNC – Arno Cost & Norman Doray. Overall the party was amazing, Wall were really good hosts, the crowd were on fire, as to were the DJ’s and the sound was amazing. The Swedish house mafia also made it down to come and party and the crowds went insane, they really are superstars now!
Day 4 – Thursday: Met with Uner & Coyu and spoke about the Live & Direct Compilation, we plan to do a 3 disc release with Uner, Coyu and Edu Imbernon doing a disc each – due out in June/July 2010. Press meetings took up the most of the afternoon but managed to get down to the Cadenza pool party at the Shelbourne for a few hours to see Luciano playing back to back with Loco Dice. The place was rammed even though we were on the Guest list it took an age to get in. Thursday night was the Big Beat / Atlantic party at Twelves Lounge, Atlantic Chairman/CEO Craig Kallman played his first Dj set in around 15 years –Craig started out in the industry as a DJ at the Cat Club (New York) in 1981.
Day 5 – Friday: Woke up to rain pelting on the window not good for the Beatport beach party that we were due to play at 4pm. In true Miami fashion it was a massive downpour and it quickly brightened up. The beach was wet but loads of people still came down and we really enjoyed the party. On the way back we bumped into the Black Eye Peas and arranged dinner, ended up going to an amazing little Cuban restaurant Will.I.Am knows. Friday night was Dirty Dutch at Cameo we did a bit of party hopping and visited Wall where the Swedish House Mafia were playing, Space and Nocturnal, it was a crazy night! Chuckie’s Dirty Dutch party went off, will Estelle turning up to do a live pa and David Guetta partying in the DJ box.
Day 6 – Saturday: Much needed lie-in. Headed out for some food, met with Hugo and his manager from Italy. We talked about his remix of ‘I Feel Love’ that he is working on now and a collaboration that we will be doing when he comes over to the UK in May. On to F*** Me I’m Famous at Mansion. The door price certainly reflected the production of the event. Arno Cost & Norman Doray smashed the party as ever and Guetta followed with a number of PA’s including Kelis, Kelly Rowland and Estelle. Went on to party at P Diddy’s pad on Star Island where A Trak, Junior Sachez, Annie Mac and Felix da Housecat were DJing- can honestly say we’ve never seen a house like it!
Day 7 – Sunday: Packed, Checked-out and had a final lunch before heading to the airport for our flight back to Heathrow. Turbulence!
As you can see a packed conference this year with loads of really exciting stuff going on, we hoped to have a bit of an in depth video to give you the low down of what Chris and Mark got up to stateside but as they were so busy we didn’t get to capture all the moment’s we’d hoped. As a sort of consolation prize, here’s a lovely picture we found of Chris- the image speaks for itself really, but watch out for his new single under the name Dogman coming out on the 12th of April!
Nice to see the MYNC boys were getting into the music during their set at the Cr2 party in Miami….
