Cr2 have reached a milestone in their independent label career since forming 6 years ago, we’ve been releasing a variety of house music from Underground techno to more commercial tracks which have crossed over to day time play. Last week we reached our 200th release for the label and to mark the occasion Cr2 put together a 4 track EP featuring some of our new up and coming artists such as Dan Castro and Ben DJ and also Cr2 old school MYNC. Check them out below.

With three successful editions in the locker, Cr2 Records returns with the fourth installment in their ‘Underground’ series. Featured artists Tapesh and Hauswerks make a welcome return with ‘Alright’ and ‘Ahimsa’, and the label welcome debuts from Sergio Fernandez & Luca Ricci on ‘Jazzin’ and the in form Perupa & Ramiro Lopez with ‘I Wanna Sugar’. Other tracks included are from Jewel Kid, MYNC and Alex Niggemann. Another great selection from one of the UK’s finest independent dance labels.

Our new release this week is a collaboration between two Spanish producers, Coyu who has released on Cr2 previously and Affkt who takes his debut with this EP. Both are successfully flying in the Beatport charts at the moment and are steadily being recognised as the ‘hot young producers’ to come from Spain.
Coyu otherwise known as Ivan Ramos is a young producer from Spain who loves playing daring, eclectic and innovative music. Not only a DJ he works also as a musical journalist, booking agent, label owner (Suara and Atypical Farm) and is showing huge potential as a producer. His international acclaim arrived with his second record, “El Baile Aleman”, released on liebe* detail in May 2009. It was his first Overall #1 on Beatport, but we’re sure it wont be his last. Last summer Coyu released records on labels such as Diynamic Music, Great Stuff Recordings, Diynamic Extra, Saved Records, Be As One and the mighty Cr2. Coyu’s releases are also being played by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, DJ Hell, Dennis Ferrer, Axwell, Nic Fanciulli, Marco Carola and all the current international house/techno stars.
Affkt also comes from Spain and has had similar success in his recent production years. Recognised by his eclectic taste in music he also produces under different aliases and is one half of the drum n bass duo ‘Malsum’. Affkt’s biggest record to date is without doubt his ‘Points (El Prologo EP)’ on Barraca Music, but he’s also had success remixing the likes of Radio Slave, Spencer Parker, James Teej and John Talabot. Marc’s biggest talent lies in his mixing and live performances. His sets can be described quite simply as rocking and incorporate the whole spectrum from jazzy deep house sounds to driving electronic tech house. Marc has already been a regular feature in some of the best clubs around the world.
‘Nit Magica’ and ‘Get it Alive’ are groovy house tracks with summer infused vibes. ‘Nit Magica’ has strong piano rifts, which gradually increase to an uplifting climax. The excellent use of a harping vocal note only serves to enhance the track and the abrupt breakdown and gradual build in the middle section creates a blissful atmosphere fit for any peak time set. ‘Get It Alive’ is slightly more chilled than it’s counterpart, using a placid vocal sample and funk guitars, this track is uplifting, chunky and funky all rolled into one. The driving force of the drums used explicitly towards the middle of the track allows for a low impact breakdown, which fits beautifully with the Sitar sounds. Bohemian and summery these two tracks are definitely what you need to take you into the Ibiza season.

Our new release this week is from our very own Chris Ward aka Dogman who is A & R assistant at Cr2. The track gradually builds to become quite an expansive track of light drums and off the cuff synths, and it’s a house groove suitable for any driving club set! The release comes armed with a remix from hot Spanish producer Uner. Uner’s groovier take on ‘The Void’ is slightly different to what we’ve previously seen in his productions, but is equally as satisfying. With a lighter chord breakdown and gradually leading to light vocal elements in the middle, this track certainly has something to offer for all house music lovers. New mix soon to come from Dogman so watch this space as we are expecting big things!
